Major salivary gland ultrasonography images of submandibular glands illustrating the semi-quantitative scoring system. A score of 0 representing a completely homogeneous submandibular gland. A score of 1 representing small, nonspecific punctate areas of heterogeneous gland echogenicity. A score of 2 shows moderate areas of heterogeneous gland echogenicity. A score of 3 shows diffuse heterogeneous gland echogenicity. Scores of 0 and 1 are considered normal. Scores of 2 and 3 are pathologic and represent a pattern that can be seen in Sjögren’s syndrome
